Motivating ChildrenGetting children involved in exercise without medication is not as difficult as one might think. If you feel that your child is overweight and if you see they have problems running, jumping and just playing like other children you need to put more exercise in their life. Children are not eligible and are not recommended to take many of the diet aids that are formulated to keep you from being hungry, but there are many methods you can use to put more exercise into their lives, and to cut back on calories at the same time to get them to a healthier weight level. Motivating children is going to involve the whole family in changing eating habits and in adding exercise to their lives. First, teach children to learn about their bodies and what is healthy for their bodies. Learning about being healthy is a first step in the motivation to want to exercise. Teach children about calories, how much is in a snack, in their supper, and in their daily meals. As they realize that there is not as much calories in some of the foods they like the most, they will avoid the foods that you tell them are bad and that are high in calories. Keeping the foods that are high in sugar and high in calories out of the kitchen will be a good start. Exercising without realizing you are exercising is what being a child can be all about. What I mean by this is: riding a bike around town is great exercise and the child is out of the house doing something. The child loves this and they are burning more calories than they would be sitting in the house. Taking the dog for a long walk is burning calories and exercising at the same time. While the child might realize they are exercising the dog, they don’t think of it as hard work to get a little exercise their selves. Bird watching, looking for wild life, exploring the woods and just taking a hike is fun for the whole family. Making a day of it is going to give everyone a little exercise without having to think about actually exercising which is what makes it a lot more fun all around. Motivate children into exercising by making it fun. When children are not eating as much calories and you find activities that they like, such as flying a kite, playing baseball, playing tag, chasing the dog, mowing the grass or simply riding their bike, the child is going to get more exercise and they will lose weight without thinking about it too much at all. |
